I am fortunate to have a dream shop in which to create my instruments. It is an 1800 square foot, walk out basement shop with climate control and excellent lighting. Over a lifetime of woodworking I have accumulated a wide variety of stationary and portable equipment that can facilitate just about any task required of a luthier. The shop has double French doors to allow walkout access to the outside and as a bonus, a view of the pond behind the house where I can sneak a canoe or kayak into the water for a quick break. A large portion of a luthier's time is spent making specialty fixtures to improve accuracy or to speed up a process. A few of these are shown below.
